The “Judeo-Arab Friendship Association,” a Left-wing Jewish group here, has called for the creation of a Palestinian State on the West Bank and for making Jerusalem the joint capital of such a State and of Israel. “We are convinced that the responsible men in Nablus, Ramallah, Hebron and elsewhere can become the skeleton of such a future Palestinian Republic, federated and friendly to the State of Israel,” the secretary general of the Association, Charles Jacobson, stated.

“This, provided the creation of kibbutzim on the West Bank is stopped,” he added. In his opinion the soldier-workers there must be replaced by the Gaza camps’ refugees who should be trained for Socialist work in Israel’s kibbutzim. “Only when the Palestinian flag flies over these sites of Socialist work will the situation change,” Jacobson stated. Finally, the Association suggested a series of round-table talks between Jews and Arabs in France, having one single aim–peace.
