A tree-planting project, which will culminate in the establishment of a grove in the American Freedom Forest in Israel in honor of President John F. Kennedy, was launched here last night at a Jewish National Fund dinner attended by 1, 000 community leaders.
Benjamin Swig, of San.Francisco, president of the JNF Western region, announced the tribute to Mr. Kennedy, declaring that “the world owes a great debt of gratitude to this illustrious American leader, whose wise and considered actions averted a world conflagration. ” A total of $100, 000 was pledged for the project.
