The 1953 goal of the Jewish National Fund of Canada is $500,000, Bernard Figler, national executive secretary, has announced. He revealed that funds raised in Canada by the JNF have increased steadily from 1944 when $84,000 was collected to 1952 when a total of $310,000 was raised.
A substantial sum was raised here tonight to redeem a tract of land in Israel in honor of S.E. Schwisberg, former co-president of the Zionist Organization of Canada. The sum was raised at a JNF “Negev Dinner” in honor of Mr. Schwisberg.
