An appeal to Jewish organizations to come to the aid of children of the poor to enable them to continue their studies in Talmud Torahs and other Jewish schools, has been issued by the Jewish Education Association of New York. The organizations upon whom the Association is calling for assistance for the first time, include fraternal lodges, mutual benefit societies and others.
The appeal, which is signed by Israel Unterberg, president of the Association, Otto A. Rosalsky, vice-president, Jonah J. Goldstein, vice-president and campaign chairman, and Bernard Semel, honorary secretary, points out that a contribution of $50 to the Scholarship Fund of the Association insures the Jewish education of one boy or girl for a period of a year. Since its existence, the fund has helped in this way a total of nearly 20,000 boys and girls.
