“The need of the Jews in many countries in Europe is great beyond description,” Herbert H. Lehman, former director of UNRRA, declared today in a message to the Emergency Conference of the Committee for Overseas Supplies of the World and American Jewish Congress which will be held on Sunday.

Mr. Lehman stated that although UNRRA had been shipping large stocks of food, clothing and medical supplies, they have been wholly inadequate to meet the needs, and that the situation had been aggravated in recent months by the world scarcities.
