A number of Jewish publications in Paris today printed open letters addressed to the Soviet Premier, who is now visiting France, asking him to take action about the situation of the Jews in the Soviet Union. Although Jews have been among those meeting the Soviet Premier at various public functions here, the question of the treatment of the Jews in the Soviet Union has not been discussed, it was reported.
Two documentary works on anti-Semitism in the Soviet Union were released in Erance today apparently to coincide with the visit of Mr. Khrushchev.
One was a comprehensive collection of speeches, newspaper articles and other material from Soviet and Communist sources tracing the attitudes of the Soviet Union and its satellites toward Jews in the past few years, with particular emphasis on the post-Stalin period. The material was assembled and edited by Francois Fejto, a prominent French Journalist.
The other was a collection of translations from the Soviet press, including denunciations of the Jewish religion and articles in which persons with Jewish-sounding names are spotlighted in economic and other crimes. The collection was prepared by the French section of the World Jewish Congress.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
