What is termed in Poland “anti-Jewish excesses” occured in the town Ryki, district of Warsaw, last night.
The trouble began when the Christian population learned that a wooden cross erected on the outskirts of the town was demolished by unknown vandals. Immediately the accusation was spread that Jews were the perpetrators. At midnight panic prevailed among the Jewish population of the town when various persons started out on an anti-Jewish “crusade” breaking the windows in all Jewish houses, invading the homes and threatening the lives of the inhabitants. Many Jewish residents were beaten, many being seriously injured.
The police took energetic measures to put an end to the excesses, despatches received here state.
