The Jews of Palestine “are firmly resolved” not to disarm and not to allow themselves to be disarmed, the British and Palestine Governments were warned today by Mayor Israel Rokach of Tel Aviv, addressing a special session of the city’s municipal council attended by representatives of all Jewish institutions and organizations.

Rokach reviewed the attempts by the British Government to curtail Jewish rights, beginning with the White Paper of 1920 up to the recent search for arms in Ramath Hakovesh, which has precipitated the present tense situation. The meeting adopted a resolution which expressed sympathy with the settlers at the raided colony, demanded an end to arms searches and an investigation of those responsible, and pledged continued contribution to the war effort and friendship to the United Nations soldiers visiting Tel Aviv “despite disappointments.” It was decided to send a delegation to the Palestine Government to submit the resolution.

In Jerusalem, it was announced that a nation-wide conference of Jewish workers would be held in Ramath Hakovesh on Sunday under the auspices of the Histadruth. Delegates from all unions, and from farmers, womens and youth organizations will be present. The Jewish community council of Jerusalem adopted a resolution protesting the Ramath Hakovesh incident.
