Johnson Urged to Retain Bureau Which Was Headed by Abba Schwartz

The American Jewish Committee today urged President Johnson to move to retain the Bureau of Security and Consular Affairs within the State Department under the direction of Abba P. Schwartz. The Bureau has been abolished under a reorganization plan; A national furor has resulted, Mr. Schwartz resigned earlier this week, and his resignation has been accepted by President Johnson.
