The Jewish Joint Distribution Committee has allocated 2,000,000 francs for maintenance of the schools in Morocco and Tunis founded by the Alliance Israelite Universelle, it was announced today by Joseph C. Hyman, executive vice-chairman of the J. D. C.
The subsidy, which amounts to over $40,000, will insure the continuance of modern education for the hundreds of youngsters. The support will include nutritious meals daily for the needy children. Assistance by the J. D. C. to the Alliance Israelite began when the 85-year-old institution suffered severely shortly after the fall of France.
