Thirteen high school students were under suspension today and five other youths were being held for questioning as police continued their investigation of a synagogue bombing and other anti-Semitic incidents in the Kansas City area.
James Hazlett, school superintendent, said the 13 were suspended because of their membership in neo-Nazi clubs in two of the city’s high schools. He said the suspensions were not connected with whether the students were implicated in the bombing of the synagogue which touched off the investigation or in swastika daubings on four other synagogues.
The five other youths were arrested by sheriff’s officers in suburban Martin county in a car which had swastikas and slogans of “Heil Hitler” and “Heil Himmler” traced on its sides.
