King of Jordan Indicates He May Use U.S. Arms Against Israel

King Hussein of Jordan, in a speech opening Parliament in Amman, indicated that American arms supplied him under the recent United States $10, 000, 000 military aid program may be used against Israel.

Referring to the American military assistance, the monarch said that the responsibilities which Jordan was assuming in relation to the Palestine problem and the “Zionist danger” necessitated that the Arab state take all measures to strengthen her defenses. Thus, King Hussein continued, Jordan would be able to discharge her duties in defense of the Arab world.

In Cairo, Egyptian Government circles today expressed pleasure at the fall of the French Government of Premier Maurice Bourges-Maunoury and predicted a change was possible in the French policy of supplying munitions to Israel.
