The Israel Parliament today passed the final reading of a law providing for the protection of the Parliament building. The measure provides that unauthorized persons may not carry arms inside the Knesset building and that unauthorized demonstrations may not be held within 1,000 feet of the building.

Earlier, the Knesset passed the first reading of the government’s new 168,000,000 pound budget. Winding up a lengthy debate for the government, Minister of Trade and Industry Dov Joseph denied charges that the health of the people, particularly of the children, had been injured by the lack of certain foods. Speaking of the accomplishments of the Mapai-led government he said its economic policy had made possible the admission of 700,000 immigrants in less than four years.
