Knesset Rejects Government Bill to Prolong Emergency Defense Regulations by 34-26 Vote

The Israeli Government suffered a setback in the Knesset today when the government-sponsored bill for prolongation of the emergency defense regulations was rejected and returned to the judicial commission. The Religious Bloc, which normally supports the government, voted with the opposition against the bill which was returned by a vote of 34 to 26.
