Funeral services were held here today for Dr. Lazaro Zhitnitsky, editor of the Yiddish daily, “Di Presse,” who died yesterday of a heart attack at the age of 72.
Born in the Ukraine, Dr. Zhitnitsky published works in verse and in prose in Russian before emigrating to Argentina in 1928, where he specialized in literary and musical criticism. He had been editor-in-chief of “Di Presse” since 1965.
