The largest tuberculosis hospital in the Near East, built by the Joint Distribution Committee, was officially dedicated yesterday at Be’er Yaacob. The hospital, a 500-bed center, is operated by J. D. C. under its extensive “Malben” health and rehabilitation program on behalf of aged, ill and handicapped newcomers to Israel.

Francis Russell, Counsellor to the American Embassy in Israel, conveyed the best wishes of the American Government on behalf of Ambassador Monnet Davies. In his speech, Mr. Russell declared that “the establishment of this hospital must give special pride and gratification to the people in the United States who contributed to its completion.” Also present at the dedication ceremonies were representatives of the Technical Cooperation Administration and of the Israeli Government.
