Latin American Chiefs of State Greet Jews on Rosh Hashanah

A tribute to the contribution of the Jewish community in the development of Brazil was offered here by President Juscelino Kubitschek in a message of greetings to the Jewish community through the Federation of Jewish Institutions on the occasion of the Jewish New Year.

President Kubitschek declared that the hard-working Jewish community had cooperated usefully in the country’s progress. He offered his wishes for a prosperous New Year for the Jews in Brazil and in Israel where, he said, the Jewish people had transformed desert wastes into gardens and industrial centers.

General Pedro Eugenio Aramburu, President of Argentina, in a message of greeting to the Jews of his country, on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, declared that the constitution and laws of Argentina offer guarantees to all men of good will, without discrimination. Argentine sentiment, he said. rejects discrimination.
