Lawyers for El Al Israel Airlines reportedly asked the nation’s attorney general for permission to fly on Shabbat. Transportation Minister Shaul Yahalom of the National Religious Party, who opposes the move, has approved the sale of only 49 percent of the state-owned airline to retain control over whether it flies on the Sabbath.
