Lazar Kahan, former editor of the Daily Express, a Jewish newspaper published in pre-war Warsaw, died here last night of typhus. He was 61 years old.
Born in Latvia, he moved at the age of 22 to Lodz, where he became the editor of a local Jewish daily newspaper, the Lodzer Nachrichten. He later moved to Warsaw where he remained until the outbreak of the war in 1939, when he fled to Lithuania. Prior to the Nazi occupation of Lithuania he succeeded in reaching Shanghal where he lived as a refugee.
