Leon A. Gottlisb, a member of the editorial staff of the Jewish Forward for 46 years, died here yesterday at the age of 68. A fatal heart attack was brought on by a small fire in his home.
Born in Grodzisk, Poland, Gottlisb was a journalist and interpreter for the Polish Socialist Party and served on its newspaper in London. In 1933 Joseph Pilsudski, dictator of Poland, conferred the Polish Cross of Independence on him for his work with the Polish Socialist Party. He served as writer, editor, managing editor and columnist on the Forward since 1901. He was the author of two novels and many short stories.
