Two Jews of this city who recently passed away left wills distinguished for the number and extent of charitable bequests.
Particularly noteworthy is the gift in the will of Benjamin Blumauer of $2,500 to the German Aid Society, a charitable organization more than fifty years old. Its leaders have been consistently friendly to the Jewish community here.
Blumauer, a widower, and Harry Lewis, a bachelor, left sums aggregating more than $150,000 to all types of educational and philanthropic institutions, with Catholic, Protestant and Jewish groups receiving amounts ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. Catholic and Protestant hospitals, a Jewish ## orphanages, missions and community houses are all remembered in the bequest of these two men.
