Klansmen from all parts of the country will gather here August 14, 15 and 16 to participate in the seventh “Imperial Klonvokation” of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, according to the June issue of the Kourier, monthly publication of the organization.
In reporting an address by Daniel F. Cohalan, former Supreme Court Justice, at a breakfast of the Knights of Columbus at the Hotel Astor in New York, in which the speaker urged members of the Catholic faith to display the same united effort in demanding their rights and obtaining a position of power in this country as American Jews have done, the magazine deplores the “pillaging of our heritage by these two enemies of Americanism.”
BATTLE FOR U. S. CONTROL
“Entitled “Catholics and Jews Fight to Control the United States,” the article says, “The prediction has been made frequently in the Kourier that if patriotic Americans did not coordinate their efforts, the fate of this nation would be decided by a fight between the Roman Catholic international, political hierarchy and the international Jew political-economic-money power. This battle for control of America, a nation builded by white Protestant gentiles is now in full swing, as the following newspaper article evidences. While we are not averse to these two enemies of Americanism fighting each other to the destruction of both” the magazine frankly asserts, “yet it is pitiful to see our heritage thus pillaged.”
In pointing to the brilliant record the Jews have made in this country, Mr. Cohalan, according to the newspaper article that so aroused the ire of the Kourier saidfi in addressing the Catholic audience, “Let us look at the position of the Jews in America. They number probably 3,000,000 of people. In the main they have come here within the last half century. Look for a moment at the position they occupy already in the public life of the nation, of the state, and city.”
LAUDS JEWS’ RECORD HERE
Exhorting the 20,000,000 Catholics in this country to unite and demand their rights, Mr. Cohalan pointed out, according to the Kourier article, that “through cooperation Jews had come to wield more power in the United States than they did in any other nation save Russia. More power to the Jews,” he continued, “who standing for what they believe to be their rights, are able to do these things. We are many times their number and have a record of service to the country in peace and war, comparable to that of any group. When our co-religionists in Mexico were harried and persecuted did we come to their assistance in the manner in which American Jews have come to the assistance of the German Jews? Did we, with all our numbers and records of ability and importance in public affairs, did we have any such meeting of protest, addressed even by men of our own religion, not to speak of those of another religion? We did not.”
