The loading of British military supplies bound for Egypt is nearing completion aboard an Egyptian freighter at Liverpool, it was reported today. A check with the Vickers-Armstrong Company elicited the information that it had sent some radio sets for use in tanks aboard the vessel on orders from the British Ministry of Supply.
At the Vickers plant at Newcastle, manager P.H. Muirhead revealed that 32 Centurion tanks formerly used by the British forces stationed in Germany had been reconditioned in his shop and shipped to Egypt last summer, on orders of the British Ministry of Supply. He also revealed that twelve Centurion tanks were shipped to Iraq this week, two paid for by the British Government and the other ten a gift from the United States Government under the terms of the mutual security aid program.
