Lord Allenby paid a tribute to Nahum Sokolow, chairman of the Executive of the World Zionist Organization, at a reception given in his honor by a committee of the Federation of English Zionists.

Sir Herbert Samuel, who presided, stated in his address that the world will be grateful to Sokolow who has devoted his life to the propagation of sound ideas. His wise counsel has always been available to steer the Zionist movement in times of crisis.

Lord Allenby declared that he only turned the first sod in Palestine and that the rest was done by people like Samuel and Sokolow, the great patriots of Jewry and of the British Empire.

Nahum Sokolow, in reply stated that the English Jews are doing the least for upbuilding Palestine and urged them to greater participation in the work. He outlined the position of the Zionist movement and added that during his last interview with Doumergue, the president of France was chiefly interested in the revival of the Hebrew language in Palestine.
