when the American Zionist leader began to suffer from loss of breath. Saturday morning he first complained of tonsilitis and Sunday afternoon quinsy set in, which was followed by Edema Glottidis, swelling of the mouth of the windpipe, which made the incision necessary. For the operation he was taken to the Hadassah Hospital.
It was explained that the swelling of the mouth of the windpipe came about from an abcessed tonsil. Dr. Salzberger opened the tonsil abcess and the abcess of the epiglotis nearly opened of itself, causing the swelling to be reduced one-half. The Vienna specialist is in constant attendance. Mr. Lipsky had a normal temperature all day and is doing as well as is possible under the circumstances, it was stated.
On the advice of Mr. Lipsky’s friends in Jerusalem, Mrs. Lipsky was urged to come to Jersusalem. She sailed Wednesday on the Mauretania, rushing to his bedside by rail and air.
