Dr. Walter Bertram, Minister-President of Schleswig-Holstein, in the British zone of Germany, has admitted that a majority of the members of his Cabinet were once members of the Nazi Party. Five or six of the province’s Ministers are known to have been Nazis.
The Bavarian State Parliament today set up a special sub-committee to investigate the mass recruitment in Bavaria of former Gestapo officers into the 30,000-man police corps. Meanwhile, in Bonn, Federal Minister of Interior Robert Lehr warned that right-wing and neo-Nazi groups are gaining in strength in Germany. Be ordered an investigation into the activities of the German Socialist Party and the Deutscher Bloc which he charged with activities hostile to the West German constitution.
