Mania Allocates $250,000 for Jewish Hospitals; Will Pay Teachers’ Salaries

The Rumanian Government has allocated close to $50,000 this year for the country’s Jewish hospitals, a Jewish delegation, headed by ## Leibovici-Serban, secretary-general of the Federation of Jewish Communities, was formed today by Minister of Finance Vasile Luca.

Luca also told the Jews that in the next fiscal year, the government would by the salaries of all teachers in Jewish schools. The problem of meeting the ?achers’ salaries has been a source of major concern to the Jewish community.

Meanwhile, Dr. Moses Rosen, deputy Chief Rabbi of Rumania, was sworn in at a ##remony presided over by Prime Minister Petru Groza, which was attended “by repre#tatives of all religious communities in Rumania. Groza stated that the new Rumania constitution has abolished the preferential treatment hitherto granted to the Greek Orthodox Church, which was the state religion when Rumania was a monarchy. All reli #ous denominations are now equal, he declared. Dr. Rosen expressed the deep loyalty ## Rumanian Jewry to democracy and the Rumanian Republic.
