A firm denial that he has any anti-Semitic inclinations is contained in a statement by former Prime Minister Dr. Juliu Maniu, reprinted in The Jewish Courier, organ of the Union of Roumanian Jews here.
Dr. Maniu’s statement reads:
“I firmly state that I never was, and I am not now an anti-Semite. I respect every loyal and honest Jewish citizen. I want it understood once and for all that my attitude towards the Jews has not changed, and I sincerely hope that no reaffirmation to that effect will be necessary in the future.”
