Boston University has decided to drop references to religion from student admission blanks, it was reported today by the Jewish Community Council of Metropolitan Boston.
According to word received by Robert E. Sogal, executive director of the Community Council, from Dr. Ralph W. Taylor, dean of the university’s College of Liberal Arts, the Council’s brief against the reference to religion on the application blanks has been examined by the university authorities, and Dr. Daniel L. Marsh, president of the institution, has approved the recommendation for deletion. Consequently, students applying for admission to Boston University next year will find no reference to their religion on the forms.
Similar action was taken recently by Tufts College and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
