Sen. George McGovern has accepted an invitation to address a meeting of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations on Sept. 21 at the Presidents Conferences offices here, chairman Jacob Stein announced. Stein said the Presidents Conference extended the invitation to the Democratic Presidential nominee “so that he can present in his own words his views on subjects which are of particular interest to the Jewish community of the United States.”
Stein added that the Presidents Conference “is, of course, non-partisan and takes no stand and does not endorse candidates.” He said “we have issued a similar invitation to President Nixon to present his views to the American Jewish community at another meeting.” The Sept. 21 meeting will be open only to officially designated delegates of the coordinating agency for 25 Jewish organizations, in addition to the press.
Premier Golda Meir has reportedly appointed three men, whose names were not immediately released, to conduct the probe into the security aspects of the Munich massacre.
