Members of an armored regiment which suffered heavy losses in the 1973 Yom Kippur War have launched a fund to finance a peace project at Tel Aviv University in memory of their dead comrades. Prof. Haim Ben Shachar, president of Tel Aviv University, in announcing the fund at the opening Tuesday of the meeting of the university’s board of governors, said that the money will be used to establish a research center that will coordinate various disciplines at the university that can be used to promote peace. It will be headed by Prof. Avivi Yavin.
