A celebration marking the opening of Herzl Year, in observance of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Theodor Herzl, founder of political Zionism, was held here at the Jewish Sport Center under the sponsorship of the Zionist Federation of Mexico.
Israel’s Ambassador to Mexico, Mordechai Schneerson, represented his country at the observance. Events and activities planned for the Herzl centenary here include the publication in Hebrew and Yiddish of books and pamphlets on the life and writings of Herzl.
