The moderate faction of the Israeli Communist Party, came out today in support of the new regime in Czechoslovakia and expressed indignation over attempts to exert external pressure on the regime to moderate the movement toward liberalization.

The central committee of the party, which is headed by Shmuel Mikunis and Dr. Moshe Sneh, voiced support of the liberalization movement and demanded an immediate end to pressures intended to “divert the Czechoslovak nation from the way of life it had chosen.” Dr. Sneh said the Soviet Union would damage its prestige among socialists everywhere if it used force to suppress democratization in Czechoslovakia.
