The month-long celebration of the 125th anniversary of B’nai Jeshurin Synagogue here was climaxed tonight at a dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel attended by 600 guests. Yesterday some 1,500 members and friends of the congregation, including members of the Jewish Agency executive who are now in New York, attended the 125th anniversary services conducted by Dr. Israel Goldstein, spiritual leader of the congregation since 1918.
Eleanor Roosevelt, Israeli Ambassador to the United States Aubrey Eban, Bishop Charles K. Gilbert and Rt. Rev. Monsignor Philip J. Furlong representing Francis Cardinal Spellman, and Dr. Israel Goldstein were the principal speakers at the dinner. Messages from President Truman, Governor Dewey, U.S. Senators Lehman and Ives, President Chaim Weizmann and other members of the Israeli government, and religious leaders from all over the world hailed the Congregation.
