Henry Morgenthau, a member of the Executive Committee of the American Red Cross and of the Near East Relief, formerly United States Ambassador to Turkey, had a one-hour audience with King George regarding the refugee loan plan and the permanent settlement of the Christian refugees.
The Asia Minor bishops and the Metropolitan of Athens visited Mr. Morgenthau and expressed the gratitude of the refugees for American interest in their distress.
It is understood Mr. Morgenthau is endeavoring to put into operation a plan for the individual settlement of the refugees adopted by the Council of the League of Nations.
