Morris Weinberg, publisher of the Day-Jewish Journal, the Yiddish language daily newspaper, was honored here tonight at a testimonial dinner on behalf of Israel Bonds by 500 Jewish communal, civic and cultural leaders. More than $300,000 in Israel bonds were purchased in tribute to Mr. Weinberg.
Dr. Emanuel Neumann, a member of the executive of the Jewish Agency, and president of the World Confederation of General Zionists, was the principal speaker at the dinner, which was sponsored by the Zionist Organization of America and the landsman shaften division of bonds organization. The Israel Bond Organization presented to Mr. Weinberg a scroll citing him for his “lifetime of distinguished and memorable service to his people,” and “as a forceful and imaginative leader on the American-Jewish scene.”
