I have before me a copy of the leading Polish Zionist daily, the “Hajnt”, containing the speech by Mr. Vladimir Jabotinsky, summarised in your issue of December 30th., Mr. A. Abrahams, Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Revisionist World Union, writes in a letter in to-day’s “Times”. The passage referred to as published in the “Hajnt” makes different reading, he says, and is an expression of fact and feeling which certainly exists in Jewry, however much certain English Jews might try to conceal it. “England, with her 13 years’ government in Palestine, has nullified our aspirations. She has thereby set light to 15,000,000 Jewish hearts, and the danger of 15,000,000 flaming matches is very great.”
It is also important, he adds, to correct a misconception which may be created by Dr. Eder’s claim in his letter to the “Times” to speak on behalf of the so-called English Zionist Federation, and his statement that Mr. Jabotinsky’s utterance is irresponsible as he holds no office in the Zionist Organisation. The fact is that the English Zionist Federation, which is only partly representative of English Zionism is the advocate of a political attitude which was definitely defeated at the last Congress. Mr. Jabotinsky, however, is President of an Organisation which achieved the defeat of Dr. Weizmann, polled more votes than any other party at the last Congress, and now has more representatives on the General Council of the Zionist Organisation than any other Zionist party.
