Mayor Frank Murphy yesterday appointed Mrs. Gertrude Wineman as a member of the Welfare Commission.
Mrs. Wineman, who is the wife of Henry Wineman, chairman of the board of directors of the Jewish Welfare Federation of Detroit and an American member of the board of governors of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, is a leader in Jewish affairs here. She is chairman of the woman’s auxiliary of the Detroit Service Group, is active in Hadassah, and has for three years been among the leaders in Allied Jewish Campaigns. She is also active in the Travelers Aid Committee.
