Nathan Phillips Elected Mayor of Toronto; First Jew in This Post

Nathan Phillips became today the first Jew ever to be elected Mayor of Toronto, Canada’s second largest city. Mr. Phillips has served the city for 28 years as alderman. Mr. Phillips is a native of Cornwall, Canada, whose Mayor Aaron Horowitz has held that post for 16 years and was recently re-elected to a new term.
