M. Tobler, one of Switzerland’s leading manufacturers, today filed suit for libel against Col. Ulrich Fleischauer, the Nazi “expert” from Germany who testified at the trial of the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion” which concluded yesterday with a verdict declaring them a forgery.
The libel suit against Fleischauer is based on the allegation made by him during the trial that Tobler gave false testimony when he appeared as one of the witnesses at the trial. Mr. Tobler, who is a leading Freemason, is also suing Col. Fleischauer for certain statements which the latter, as “expert” for the Nazis, made against the Freemasons.
The suit will be tried May 28. The court fixed this day despite the protest of Col. Fleischauer that he needs time for bringing from Germany secret documents to substantiate his statements against the Freemasons. The court also rejected Col. Fleischauer’s demand that a police escort be assigned to him to bring the documents from the German border into the court.
