Widespread raids on Jewish cafes in the Kurfurstendam quarter and arrests of an unknown number of Jews were carried out last night by Nazi police and auxiliary storm troop detachments.
Arrests followed an attack on Jewish voters in Der Angriff, mouthpiece of Propaganda Minister Paul Joseph Goebbels, which declared the “No” votes came from “Jews and former journalists frequenting certain Jewish reading rooms in the Kurfurstendam, where they scrutinize foreign newspapers in order to find anti-German attacks.”
Another group of Jews were arrested and charged with having formed an organization to vote “No” in the plebiscite of last Sunday.
Led by Der Angriff, numerous Nazi papers all over Germany today began a campaign to convince the German people that all the Jews in Germany voted “No” in the plebiscite.
Franconian Nazi newspapers were particularly vicious in their attacks. “Why don’t the Jews leave Germany if they don’t like our Reichspresident Adolf Hitler?” the Nuremberg Nazi paper asked.
