Netherlands Government Honors Philadelphia Rabbi for Services During Wartime

Rabbi D.A. Jessurun Cardozo, spiritual leader of the Mikveh Israel congregation, has been awarded the title of “Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau” by the Netherlands Government in recognition of his services to the Dutch cause during and after the war.

Rabbi Cardozo was a member of a number of Dutch committees in America, conducted services for Dutch troops in Canada and made broadcasts to Holland during the occupation.
