The blasting of a new regional road connecting the eastern shore of the Kinneret and Mevo Hama in the southern Golan is to begin shortly by the Jewish National Fund. The two lane highway, which will traverse some of the steepest mountain terrain, is expected to be ready for traffic within two years. Meir Shamir, head of the JNF Land Development Authority, explained during a recent press tour to the Golan Heights that this highway is a further link in the road network being established to serve both the needs of the settlements and of the security forces on the Heights.
