New York City Honors Emma Lazarus on Anniversary of Her Death

New York’s Acting Mayor, Abe Stark, proclaimed today Emma Lazarus Day in honor of the “pioneer of Jewish culture in the United States. He acted in response to a request from the Emma Lazarus Federation of Jewish Women’s Clubs which observed today the 70th anniversary of the death of the famed posess a portion of whose poem “The New Colossus” is inscribed on the Statue of Liberty.
