Organization of a non-sectarian group comprising approximately 25 organizations of refugees in this country with a membership of about 15,000 was announced here today by Dr. Manfred George, German Jewish journalist.
The purpose of the group, to be known as the “Immigrants’ Conference 1939,” was stated to be coordination of the component organizations for common tasks and for the general representation of their varied interests. The Conference will cooperate with existing American refugee-aid groups.
Members of the executive committee include Mme. Irene Harand, founder of the World Movement Against Race Hatred, Dr. Wilfred C. Huelse, chairman, and Dr. George.
