Two public meetings, one supporting and the other condemning emigration of German Jews to South America, aroused a storm of discussion in Jewish circles today.
Speaking at the first public rally devoted to migration to South America, Dr. Hirschberg, leader of the Central Union of Jews in Germany, declared that there were many opportunities for settlement in Brazil.
Simultaneously, a rally was held by the Maccabi, Jewish sports organization, at which emigration to Latin American countries was branded as detrimental to the interests of German Jewry.
