Nazi attacks on Jews and Jewish homes, of a pogrom nature, occurred in Gersfeld, Thuringia.
A Nazi mob assembled in the market place of the town where they were exhorted by a Nazi leader, Heun, to “drag the Jews from their houses.”
The Nazis stormed the Jewish quarter, smashed the windows and in one case dragged a Jewish merchant, Bacharach, from his dwelling into the street where he was severely beaten up and sustained grave injuries.
Another Jewish merchant, who dared to offer resistance to the Nazis, was also seriously injured.
Bacharach is a man of standing in his community and had no political affiliations.
