The entire Jewish press takes issue with the statement recently made by Dr. Drummond Shiels, under-secretary for the Colonies, to a delegation of Scotch Zionists, about the economic capacity of Palestine. The “Palestine Weekly” sums up Jewish sentiment by saying “like Syria, which is richer in natural resources, Palestine has always been a country of emigration. If 100,000 Jews came in during the last decade and have been absorbed in the economic structure that is not due to economic capacity but to the fact that the Jews themselves created the absorption possibilities.”
