Reports reaching here from the Libyan front reveal that Jewish transport units are playing an important role in supplying ammunition and water to the advanced British forces which are pursuing the shattered remnants of Gen. Rommel’s army, while a number of Palestine Jews who enlisted in the Royal Air Force are working at advanced landing fields. Jewish sapper units are paving the roads and repairing the tanks and vehicles behind the vanguard of the 8th Army.
The total number of Palestine Jews in the British forces as of November 1, was 18,000, it was announced today, including 150 officers of whom nine are majors and 25 are captains. In addition, 2,000 Jewish women are now serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service, including 150 officers.
