The fourth annual convention of the Palestine Labor Party (Mapai) opened at Rehovoth last night with 420 delegates and 3,000 visitors in attendance. Speakers included Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, and Zalman Rubashow, labor leader. “I hope and believe,” Dr. Weizmann declared, “that this terrible period is the Apocalypse and that the great hour is near for realization of our dreams.” Mr. Rubashov deplored the fact that Palestine was not prepared for the “coming liquidation of the Diaspora.”
